Ahh the memories of Shingle Creek, Growing up it was the place to go to get some gills, A cane pole and a tube of crickets and you would fill a cooler! In the early 80's Orange County was dumping way to much treated sewage into the headwaters and the fishing went south, Once that was controlled the fishing got better, Now I go there mainly in the summer, tossing a small Rapala on ultralite gear, catch many schooling bass and BIG Gills! Not to mention the shade is refreshing on a hot summer day. Never have caught a slab up in the creek, but the mouth has given many a good trips for slabs. Best day on Shingle was in about 1980 during one of the every 4 years draw down to low pool, a buddy and I took my motorcycle to the mouth from the lakefront and tossed a white Manns grub and landed over 100 large gills, was a fun and memorable day!

I gotcha. Use to work down that way and spent many lunches at that park on 192 and always wondered if the fishing was good or not.

Just north of that park is an area I fished in the late 80's, it cannot be reached from the lake but I found an area where I could drop my small boat in, would get 3 to 8 Bass in the 5 to 8 pound range every time, Can't reach my launch now days, but you can use a canoe or Kayak and put in at that little park.Even caught a 5 inch Gill on a 10 inch worm.
