If memory serves me, blue is the backup wire for lights in trailer plugs. 5 wire and 7 wire plug configurations that is. Obviously, some boats are only wired with 4 so you would need to add another wire but you could connect directly to your 7 pin round plug on the backup wire side.

My trailer is pre-wired for it. I have been seriously thinking of adding the lights. What type did you get? Are they submersible?

    Hey guys,
I had to run a blue wire (actually ran a blue and a white ground) down both sides of trailer. I had to change from a 4-way flat plaug to a 5-way flat...easy but i took my time. I tied both ground into white on plug then to trailer.
lights off amazon...these by far brightest and least expensive for the purpose. RioRand® 18w LED Spot Work Light 1800 Lumen 6500k 30 Degree Waterproof Light(1pcs):Amazon:Automotive

    then new plug......
    Amazon.com: Towpower (78118) 7-Way Flat.
    hope this helps

The cost on that link for lights is for 1 light...so obviously you will need 2. Most expensive was wire cause i went with little heavier Guage than thin trailer wire...overkill on my part......

I figured you would have to go with a 5 pin flat or a round. Great job and thanks for the information. I know what I'm getting!!!
