    Default CHEAP CRAPPIE COVER

A NEW ANGLE. I LIVE IN GONZALES ON A 14 ACRE POND WITH ZERO COVER. I AM IN THE PEOCESS OF CREATING SOME COVER FOR MY EXTENDED BACK YARD. I CAME UP WITH THIS IDEA. I'M TAKING SOME SPRINKLER HOSE THAT YOU PLUG IN THE LITTLE NOZZLES TO IN YOUR FLOWER BEDS.I AM CHOPPING IT UP IN VARIOUS LENGTHS. I'M TAKING 8' 4 x 4'S AND BEVELING THE CORNERS AS TO HAVE 8 SURFACES TO TACK THESE "LIMBS" TO. BASED ON WHAT I'VE SEEN ON THE NET, THIS THING LOOKS REALLY GOOD. I USE ROOFING NAILS AND THE HOSE RUNS $9.75 FOR 100 FT AT HD. I HAVE A BULKHEAD AND THE WATER DROPS FAIRLY QUICK. THE 8 FOOTERS WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR THE BACK YARD. THE ONLY PROBLEM I'VE HAD IS GETTING THE HOSE TO RELAX AND NOT CURL BACK UP. I'VE HAD TO TAKE THE SECTIONS OF HOSE AND LITERALLY FOLD IT UP OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT WANTS TO DO. UNFOLD IT AND PINCH THE KINKS FROM THE SIDES AND THE HOSE RETURNS TO ITS ROUND SHAPE. MAKE IT AS THICK AS YOU LIKE. ANY THOUGHTS? SLIP

Pvc and a bunch of fittings works great too, but the cheapest and best bet is Christmas trees or something similar

Maybe you should unroll it and let it set in the sun stretched out for a while. It may take the memory (curl)out of it. And you may want to make some of these so the curl will be a plus. Here is the youtube site:

Slip is you have some bamboo around you could cut some thin pieces and shove a piece in the hose to stiffen it a bit.

I'm a bit far from Gonzales, but an abandoned house next door to me has a backyard full of bamboo...just have to harvest it if anyone wants some.

I like pictures for understanding, but I'm thinking some type of heat to relax it while it's uncoiled....8 ft is too long for the oven unless you just use it to warm, then lay it out and weight it down while it cools straight.

I strung out 200' for 2 days.....just not warm enough during those 2 days. I got it coming my way now. I folded the pieces opposite of the way it wants to go and secured the folded hose overnight. It comes out good with a slight bend...looks good. Took channel locks and pinched the kinks and it went back to normal hose diameter. When I get back from larto I'm gonna nail the limbs on and drive em into the bottom out from the bulkhead. .....SLIP
