Default Nice little article in the Lake Wylie Times

As many of you may know, I work in the printing industry, mainly newspapers here at the State Media co. Saturday night while my crew was printing the Lake Wylie paper, yes we print lake Wylie, Fort Mill, and the Rock Hill Herald here in Columbia I seen this article about a catfish tourney. I thought I'd share the cover story of Jeff (Bowlerman) with his partner and their outstanding catch and win in the club tourney held on Wylie recently. The paper will be available on news stands this coming Tuesday. Congrats Jeff!

He catches some monster catfish. I get dizzy watching him reel the handle backwards in his videos but he sure gets results. Did not know y'all printed those newspapers. I will be up there Wed-Fri and will pick up a copy. Probably gonna need something to read as it is supposed to rain all 3 days.

Ray in addition to those three papers listed, we also print The State, The Gamecock, The Greenville News, Greater Greer News, Pickens County News, The Times Tribune, York Herald, and USA Today. Along with many other pre-prints and packaging wrappers that are too many to list. If you know of anyone that needs and kind of bulk printing/packaging we are more than capable of producing some quality work. Fell free to give our company a call.

Tim, I didn't see the Charleston paper listed. I was down there last wek and picked up one and was really supprised at the size and all of the news that was in it. I've been a customer of the State and also the Record when it was printed for close to 60 years. but here latly I'm close to dropping the State. It's gotten to be so thin that I can almost read it front to the back page fron the front page because there are so few pages in print now. Mondays are a real joke. There's not enought paper to wrap up the fish guts from the week end fishing... I hate to see the State go down hill like it has in the past few years...

I only print the paper Mr.C, I have no control over it's content. For your information we are in the process of reformatting it's design. We fully wish to make all of our subscribers happy, but as you know that's an impossible task. The news market is a very competitive field, all markets are competing for the same advertising dollars. Companies are trying to be innovative, while pinching pennies where they can. News content is still very important to our readers and we pride ourselves in delivering stories and content that is meaningful to our neighbors on a local and national platform. If you as a customer are not satisfied with the product, feel free to write the editor or publisher in regards to your complaint. If done in a constructive way, by enough patrons, change will most certainly follow.

Tim I realize that you don't have anything to do with the paper other than printing. I worked for the paper when it was printed on 1200 block of Main St. slipping papers on Saturday night, all night. Yea, I’m that old. I think that there were some ownership change several years ago and I think that it started a down hill slope then. I’ve tried to get to live people to even talk about my delivery and all I ever got was some ladies that lived in other parts of the country working out of their house. After calling and calling and waiting on the phone I did get to talk to 4 people here in town at different times. I couldn’t even get the name of the person delivering the paper to get them to stop throwing it in the driveway where I would have water after the rains. My other guy that delivered it for years always had it close to the walkway and if there was any chance if it getting wet, it was always put in a wrapper. He gave everyone on the route his phone number if we had any questions.. several times after getting soaked papers I just got up one morning at 4 AM and waited to tell him in person. No problems after that. He said that he never had any notes or any thing about all of my calls and letters. No one of the 4 people that I was able to talk to locally or the 6 out of town people got the message to the carrier.. They wouldn’t even tell me who the route manager was or have him call me.. so much for service. You know as well as I do that the white collar people there are looking at the bottom line and ads and whether I get a dry doesn’t really matter to them.
