    Default Greers Ferry water condition

Got up to Greers yesterday and the water was low, cold (40 degrees and low). Got lost trying to make it back to the truck in the blowing wind and rain. That was a scary deal let me tell ya. all those coves look the same when you're losing light and its cloudy and raining. A dash mounted compass will be in my boat before next trip.

You are right-on about the compass on your boat. I was crossing a creek in my boat a few years ago in zero visibility fog on a turkey hunt. Had it not been for the compass, I would have wandered around lost in the fog!
I also use a hand-held Garmin and waypoint the boat ramp if I'm fishing a lake I'm unfamiliar with.

I've gotten turned around on Greers when the fog rolled in while night fishing. Even though I never was really in any danger, it's not a good feeling. Even in my bigger glass boat I get tense when the wind gets up and it gets rough on that lake. Glad you found your way out.

Yea, I will take my garmin gps next time. Funny thing was, I had my phone using the compass feature on it but it would have been much easier with a compass . Even though it was pointing me north my mind wouldn't let me believe it because I ( knew better) that wasn't the way I came in I kept telling myself.

Navionics app on phone and all would be well. Best ten bucks I have spent.

Thats what I used Saturday night coming off Greers in the rain. Turn it on when I left the ramp and had a nice red line to follow all the way back.

When you're "lost" or think you are, its only human nature to doubt it!!
