You might try taking your map card out and cleaning the contacts on it and re installing it. Sometimes a little corrosion that you can't even see will make it loose contact.

Will it read a card with waypoints or an update on it Pete? If it don't it may be the contacts in the unit. Id try another card before I bought 1.

Tried it in both units. And the Northern card works in both. So its the card of the contacts.
