Default Norman 2-23 yet another massacre.

After advertising on social media last night for a crew member needed for today, on short notice i had a friend who i havent fished with in ages come through and meet up with me at the ramp this morning. I fished with him some years ago many days offshore at OKI along with some king tournaments.

Anywho got started right away where we caught them yesterday. Birds working hard, decent marks, but nothing really impressive. after about 45 minutes, we caught a few perch and i was not liking what i was seeing. by that time i was starting to dodge a half dozen boats to include some of the full time LKN guides. My gut told me to move elsewhere so we picked up and rolled on.

pulled up to where i wanted to fish in an area that traditionally does very good in the bone cold days of February. saw exactly 7 birds picking a small little area. by this time the wind was whipping about 10-15 and made trolling very tough. in no time after setting a 5 rod spread (usually fish 8 rods but the wind was brutal), both of my downriggers popped with the striper zipping in different directions. then 2 more start bouncing. Found them!!

had the boat on the trailer with this pile of fish by 12:00. once again the sun started peeking through about 11:15, and the action was IMMEDIATELY OVER!

released another half dozen hybrids. For a while i thought they have disappeared, but finally caught some decent ones. Some of the biggest perch ive seen in a long time as well.

the downriggers were again pretty hot today but for some reason the perch killed the leadcore spread today. kind of odd.

finally enjoyed being the only boat on my private school of fish.

now if i could stop getting these LKN guides to stop contacting me asking where to take their "clients"

for a moment this morning, we had to strengthen our "sea legs"

This hybrid inhaled the bottom hook.
