Really nice afternoon on the water!

Gene, yes it is. the water temp was from 50-55 every where I fished. Really lucky to have this lake so close when the rest of the lakes around here are froze! caught the bass on crankbaits an jigs, and the crappie were hittin my 3/32oz bucktail swimmin it over their heads! I had hopes of gettin back down there tomorow, but its snowin like crazy here this mornin!

    Fishdoc,
I have never fished Hyco...even though I worked in Roxboro for several years. As I recall, you needed to have a special boat permit to launch on that lake. Is that still the case?

annual lake permit is $50. a great lake to fish in the winter as the water temp is usually over 50* all winter, so ya have some active fish that are usually willin to bite! I've caught crappie up to 2.5 lbs, LMB over 10 lbs, an whitebass over 3 lbs, had 150 days on crappie an days we caught over 50 LMB. My favorite lake to fish in the winter when Buggs is froze! Gene, ain't been to Buggs lately, but its lookin like I will be there next wk...60* temps comin!!!
