From what I hear its supposed to have a lot of bass in it, not sure about other species. There is one thing you need before going, they require an approved boaters safety class before you can put in.

Where and how does a person go about getting a boaters safety class? I may be interested in fishing the Cane River.

the CRAPPIE were hitting the last warm spell we had in the river and shut down when it turned off cooler that information was given to me by a local on the river.

I used to live in Natchitoches and fished the river some. Did pretty well on the bass but never had much luck on the crappie. I think it's one of those bodies of water that you just have to learn the particular peculiarities. But there are some great crappie waters within about an hours drive--Sibley Lake, Black Lake, Black Bayou, Red River system, Grand Bayou Reservoir, Toledo Bend, etc. Natchitoches is a nice town to live in, as well.
