Default Life long arguement settled(in my mind at least)

A friend called me last night and wanted me to try and help him catch a mess for him and his wife. He said he really wanted a few catfish so we went below the spillway on the rez. The water was wayyyyyyy too low to catch catfish so we got out the jig poles and caught a decent mess...1 sho nuff slab(the bank fisherman were killing them because the fish are in just a 20 yard stretch on the madison co side right off of the rocks...we try to stay out of their way out of respect. Anyway....i caught a Magnolia Crappie below the spillway. If i am correct the only place they were released on the Rez is in the big water up around hwy 43. I know it was usless to do but i released it because it was just longer than my hand and we had all they needed for a mess.
My friend also caught a 15 lb buffalo on a jigpoles..talk about fun! One of the bank fisherman on the rankin co side started yelling he wanted if we didnt so we trolled over there to give it to them but water was too low to get close so i threw it as far as i could. It hit the bank and the fight was on...lol...the fish won! He slab the mans arm with his tail and back in the water it went. He went out all the way waste deep trying to get him, to no availe. I hate he got away but it was funny.

Magnolia crappie have been around forever, long time before they released any. Caught them inGrenada 35 years ago, we called em brush crappie cause they always seemed to be in thick brush. Caught one on Enid last year that was 13.5 inches long, biggest I have ever caught or seen.

Catch them quite frequently around here. Nothing unique about them. Although they propagate them in hatcheries they are a naturally occurring color phase of a black crappie.

I wish I could have seen you throw that fish...and then watched the guy on the bank trying to wrestle it into submission. That would've been a hoot.

It been a constant debate whether fish can actually live going through the spillway or not. I think they can.
