    You ever figure out the problem with the Lowrance? Was it the unit, or pilot error? D-10

    I bet it's the brightness thing. I've done that several times with the same results you have. The beeping when you hit the keys tells me it's working, you just can't see it.

    I've had that happen because I turned the brightness down when I motored in in the dark the previous trip. Then the next time the daylight is so bright you can't even see where the cursor is to brighten it back up. Good thinking Bill.

    Ice on the water is another good time to drop some secret brush. Now a days, if you have a good sonar unit and you know how to use it, you can find these piles with a little effort.
