easy Bob you use a Palomar knot keeping the tag end the length you want off the bottom or structure 12"-2', the tag end needs to be fed through the hook eye pulled down snug to cause the hook to lay out horizontal in a natural state. Go to knots illustrated.com and see the video...I hope that's the drop shot your talking about..its the only one I know.

Hey Bob, go to youtube and type in dropshot rig. There are several videos showing how to tie the rig.

Saw the same show a while back. That is exactly what they were doing. Weight on bottom, hook about a foot above. Letting it hit the bottom and just keeping enough tension on line to feel the bite.

We tie two #2 gold hooks in the line about three feet apart above the drop shot weight.

Sounds like a Kentucky rig then. However, they were not bouncing that rig on the bottom they were catching suspended fish with it.

I do a lot of drop shoting and it is a great way to fish with plastic baits they come alive with drop shoting. I use pencil clip on sinker with spin shot hooks, keeps line twist to a minimum and can adjust the length between sink and hook easy.

I use to use this set up years ago when minnow fishing. It worked but then I just started buying premade things like the caps and coleman set up, which is a little different. I never did an adjustable tag end I just tied a weight on the end of the tag. I like crappie1941 way of the pencil clip on sinker, if I do it again I might try that. I only ever tried it with plastics once or twice with no success, however I did pretty well with live bait at times. This topic gives me an idea of a way I want to try doing something similar to this with smaller weight under a float with plastic to keep the plastic horizontal.
