I've always been puzzled how people catch white perch on yo-yo's in the wintertime fishing just a few inches deep when everyone knows the fish are deep in the channels. Do some perch stay shallow all year?

Tbone I think it is the vibration the shiner makes on the surface that brings em up to check out the racket it is making. They do have to eat even in cold so an injured shiner is easy prey for them. Don't know if this is fact , just my humble opinion.
