    Default Lake Washington question.

I grew up in the Delta, but never fished Washington. I have been wanting to try it for several years, now. I am planning a weekend trip down there next month (Feb). Some of you veterans give me some advice....

    Early Feb or late Feb?
Where do I start looking for fish? (not asking for you favorite tree top or blow down)
    Which ramp?
    Best accommodations?

Thinking I may go down on a Friday afternoon and fish Saturday and Sunday........ Which weekend?
Any of you got a weekend planned that you wouldn't mind company on?

there is a tournament on the 14th and the 21, just depends on how much of a crowd you want to fish with. there is a nice cabin at cordell,s landing that sits right on lakeand is a private boat ramp, and i can give you the lady's name and number if you are interested. nice place and handy.

Well, that narrows it down. Looks like it will be the weekend of the 7th or 28th. Don't mind a crowd when fishing but I am not a tourney guy. I have no desire to add any pressure to my fishing experience. I suspect lodgings will be tough to get on tourney wekends, so my question remains. Better to fish early (the 7th) or late (the 28th)?

My style is "catching." I pull cranks all summer, spider rig spring and fall, and single pole when I can catch a mess that way. Love the thump!!
I assume you mean spider rig early Feb and single pole late Feb?

Just go!!! It's a Great Lake for Trophy fish. Late Feb. early March is the RIGHT time!!! You'll enjoy the trip and catch fish. Just keep an eye open to the tourney posts. They'll let you know when it gets good. It's slow there right now tho.

I would spider rig thru Feb. and part of March depending on weather of course. It's pretty much an open water deal until they "do their thing". PS their is no more big fish in Washington, I caught the last one.

Their ain't no deep water in Washington, at least not compared to most lakes. I'd say long lining would be better in March and April. Stick to minners in February.
