    Default gps coordinates?

Recently purchased a lowrance elite7hdi i was trying to mark a couple spots off of google earth coordinates, but seems like they are written in a different format.
    Example google. 34 53' 33.72''n
    Lowrance unit. 34 53.554'n

I am assuming their will be some difference between the two, but not sure why they are written different. If someone has delt with this some info would be appreciated.

GPS coordinates are written in several different formats. What you need to do is do a Google search for a GPS coordinate converter program. There are several free versions out there. Then enter the information you have and once it converts, usually to several different formats at once, then pick the format that matches the format on your unit and then you can enter it in.

34 degrees, 53 minutes and 33.72 seconds is the Google format. The Lowrance is just set to use fractional minutes instead of seconds. 60 seconds in a minute, so your first coordinate is 34' 53.562 which you get by dividing the 33.72 by 60.

You can change the Humminbirds to accept whatever format you have. Does the Lowrance not do that?
My wife keeps saying I never listen to her....... or something like that!

Yep, you can change coordinate forms in both Google Earth and on you Lowrance unit. I personally like degrees bc that's what I use at work.
I carry two jig poles, in case one breaks.
