    Default Make a wish

As this was not an official Make A Wish trip, but close enough to me. This old timer is my grandpa's best friend. They wore dippers together as kids. Now, he is out of time! He made comment that he would like to go crappie fishing one more time , but it is hopeless. As he can not make his legs work anymore. He does nothing but set in the house and talk about how he used to fish. I had a half day today. I called him yesterday and told him I would be by to pick him up. I took a buddy with my to help. We carried him to the truck, to the boat, and out of the boat! He thought he was such a problem, but he was only a blessing to me! Nothing made my day more than watching him reel fish after fish in! He was done by 10:30. We had 34 fish in the boat! Now you want to see somebody soo thankful for trip of a lifetime, take some like this. Once again, we take for granted what we do for life, that other people wait a lifetime for! If you guys ever get the chance, take someone like this that is no longer able!

Once again TC, you DO where others talk. These are simple things that we can do for people that mean so much to them.

Years ago, I took the man out that I bought my first boat from. It was a 12' V bottom with a 9.5 Evinrude on it. He also had Parkinsons at an advanced stage. I took that man out several times in basically his own boat after I bought it from him. I was a young buck of 26 at the time and his wife never had to worry about him when he was with me. Once he wanted to go deer hunting one last time. That's a story in itself I'll save for another time.

God bless you and him both.

Great post, Ledge. Jerkey Log told me you are a great person. My 92-year-old mother-in-law, Doris, thought that she would never get to fish again. We got to take her to a mountain lake in Montana, and set her up with some garden hackle. She caught more than enough brook trout for her favorite breakfast and had a great time.
My 88-year-old Dad is in a wheelchair and on oxygen at one of the best nursing homes ever. They took him and several other residents out to the Madison River, where they caught some very nice fish. When we go to Montana every year, the best parts of our trips are taking Doris and Dad for trips to the mountains or the Lake for stories, hot dogs and S'mores.

Great job getting the old timer out for some catching! What a day for the three of you. Now he will have some new fish stories to tell.

The story doesn't surprise me, TC would give you the shirt off his back. Really a humble, selfless guy. He's went out of his way for me several times too.
