There is no statement in this question, and I am not judging anyone, but are you going to eat that? I am just curious is all.

Mermentau, I had the same thing happen to me a few years back. Fishing for sacs with a long pole and 4 pound test line with a Panfish Assassin, I hooked a 6.94 pound bass. I also thought I has something else, lake a catfish. Boy was I surprised to see that thing break water. Linda was about to net it and when she saw the size she dropped the net and said I'm not gonna cause you to lose it. So I had to fight him and then land him myself. A memorable event for sure. I did bring my home alive for pictures and to show and then released it right in the middle of downtown Houma.

You done caught yourself a trophy and won't forget it that's for sure.

If I ever catch another one close to that size I might let him go too as the meat doesn't look that great when you have plenty of crappie.

The bass that I am holding in my avatar picture was caught on on a 1/16th oz lead head with a baby bass assassin shad minnow. I was using 5.5ft ultra light spinning combo with 6lb line. I was catching bream every cast while my brother was bass fishing and catching one small bass to my 10 bream. My brother said I should switch over and catch larger bass. I said naw a fish almost every cast is a lot more fun. A couple cast later I hooked that large bass. We figured she was over 7 lbs. It was a catch and release marsh and had to be released. You should of seen the look on my brothers face when I landed that fish 10 minutes later.....lol.

I always catch more bass accidentally while fishing for Sacs than my friend who fishes strictly for bass. That's the plus in fishing with smaller baits. I usually come home with a mixed bag of bream, Sacs, and bass while he only catches a few bass. Another thing, I eat mine while he puts his back. What fun can that be?

I agree, while not all will be pigs like if I were throwing a spinnerbait, I do catch a good amount of 1lbers when sac fishing. I do the bass fisherman a favor and do something they can never do since theres overpopulation of bass because of the catch and release fad that started a while back... put them in the ice chest lol
