    Default Newbie winter crappie fisherman.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and to wintertime crappie fishing. I was hoping for someone to give me a few pointers on how/when/where/why to go. I've crappie fished my whole life in the spring and summertime, just never done it in the winter. I sure would love to be able to throw a few filets in the freezer and have a few fresh dinners this winter. Thanks in advance.....

Come to the 'Winter Crappie Camp' held at Hugo next month. You will get a 'load' of stuff to find and use. I'm going and just getting 'giddy' about it. Otherwise,,, find the channel breaks in 20 to 25ft and look for schools and brush. Drop jigs tipped with 'crappie nibbles' into them. Get the grease hot. <*)}}}><

Right now finding the fish in piles around 20 to 30ft, sometimes suspended close to piles, seem to be having the best luck with smaller baits Bobby Garland Baby shad, something with some sparkle or glitter. Seems like if theres fish on the piles they let you know real quick if there gonna be looking for a boat ride!

You mean there is a 'winter crappie camp'? You have to be kidding, right? You mean someone actually fishs in the winter?

Shhhh OB, it's a ruse we are setting up to trick some of the newbies--don't let them know! Lol And for sure, NO ONE fishes in the winter--that would be crazy don't ya think? lol
