Default 2015' new Ky creel limits

Just got My new issue of Ky Afield, on page 35 they have set a 15 crappie, 15 Sunfish and 4 catfish limit on all lakes. Just thought I would pass the info along for anyone who didnt hear about it.

That is for the Boone Tract of Kentucky River WMA in Henry County.

Several of us sat thru the KY F&W fisheries meeting last week and they stated there would be no changes in creel or size limits on KY and Barkley Lakes.

If yall need some meat I got a bunch of fillets, some rabbit, and a little coon in my freezer. I've asked the guys at our KDFWR office if they'd ever entertain lowering the limit on Barren and was told that this decision would be at the state level but they doubted it would happen in the near future. Too many fish. On any given trip to the state ramp I see TN boats and I no longer go on weekends due to fact you must draw a number to join in the parade of boats going up and down the channel ledge. It does seem to me the size is getting smaller and we cull through many more fish now. I typically only keep 12-15 fish per trip and try not to keep any under 10". Don't get me wrong, not griping, just want my kids and grandkids to enjoy the local recourse we have here in the future.

That wouldn't bother me any, still couldn't get a limit unless they changed it to 4 or 5

I think everything is going to be okay.
I've been worried about our Ohio lakes running out of fish since I first started fishing state waters back in 1974. Until recently Ohio didn't have a size, creel or possession limit on crappie on most waters. So far we still have plenty to go around. I think they added any of the limits to make the fishermen happy. If lakes have any limits it's 9" & 30 fish.
I don't keep alot of fish because I'm too lazy to clean them.

As far as cleaning goes, I'm right there with ya crappiemax. Today I got to fish one more time before the weather gets nasty again, what a day. I went thru 4 dozen minnows and quit due to my arm cramping up. What a day. I kept eight including this one that measured 14 1/2"gave a bunch away. Ran into a fella who asked how I was doing and when I'd told him he gave me a funny look and said he only uses jigs. I just don't get it. This baffles me, if your gonna fish, why not feed them what they want? If you use jigs do you only use one color I bet not.Name: cra.jpg

Hate to say it, but Your ratio of minnows to keepers is worse then My ratio of keepers to throw backs, nice pic though Id hook 4 dozen minnows if I caught a few 14 1/2" specks

Well, maybe not 4dz at one time, but one buddy of mine buys 200 minners ANYTIME he's going to be on the water (ain't that right, Chucky )
