Default Where to mount my new Helix SI fishfinder?

Well guys,, the wait is over for me, but now comes some thought on where and how to mount this finder,,,, It's going on my older Ranger fish and ski so not sure to mount transducer.. I have an older humminbird up front which is anient but still works,,, shows little pictures of fishes when somethings under your boat,, Platinum 120 I believe it's called worth maybe $25 bucks on ebay these days. So Shoukd I replace it there seeing it's pretty much outdated and useless or install it at the controls so I can see while I'm trolling along under engine power? I am so confused and I thought al this woud be soooooo easy,,,lol... Any help Woukd be much appreciated,

JMO, I would mount the unit on the console, and mount the ducer on the back of the boat. I would do this so you could ride around under outboard power and scan areas for structure. Once you find something you want to fish, mark it with a waypoint, then come back to it and make it with a marker buoy, and then you can use the 2d sonar on the front to find the structure around the buoy and fish. Just be sure to mount the ducer where it clear of any obstructions left or right, or you will get interference in the return imaging when side scanning.

Got a look today at my ranger fish and ski 397xt boat and it doesn't have much room at the helm to mount the Helix screen,,,, Looks like maybe I'll have to mount her up front,,,, will it cause any issues with the SI using the TM mount instead of the transom mount? Worried Bout where to mount this still,,,, here's a few pictures or area around dash.

Ram makes swing-arm type mounts that would fasten to the left side of your drivers console ...

You might think about mounting the xducer at the red circle ...as this seems like the only flat spot on your transom perpendicular to the boat's path ...

If you want high speed depth readings ... You will need the AS SIDB Y cable and a XP 9 20 to epoxy into the bilge ...
