Default Distilled water + marine grease + $1.84 gas = Yellow Perch

Been getting the itch for some perch. Just couldn't wait for the NWR bash. So friday afternoon, I did a bit of needed maintnance. Trailer bearings and checked water in the trolling motor batteries. Batteries are tucked under the splashwell, so they have to be pulled to inspect. Been respooling and retying this past week. Gassed up and made the trip saturday morning.

Brother in law Shawn and my tiny little son headed out for a 280 mile round trip to an undisclosed location. I'm swarn to secrecy by respect for the locals. A man named James is quite generous with his minnow distribution. Thanks. PM me and I will give members more details on where we fished.

We landed about 20 and lost a handful. A few crappie. I don't have a picture of them but need your opinion on two fish we caught. They were silver with dark strips. If you lost one at the boat you might say you had a striper. But there body is round (like a hickory farms summer sausage). Strips and a rounded head with a turned down mouth. Almost carp like mouth. Small and round. Any idea what they were. Both were about 15-16" long.

    Thanks,

    Dayton

Pretty much the same really. But he sure does smell bad now. 13 years of funk ooze out of his arm pits.

I also caught a fish like that in a cast net out of the James river. No clue what it was. You described it as I saw it.

Sounds like a Sucker... Try googling sucker fish picture and see if it looked like one of those. I've caught a couple of them in the Roanoke River

Could have been an old Roach. Real slimey nasty buggers. Dayton, Whatever You have been feeding that boy, You need to eat Yourself. You might grow a couple more feet and look normal. It sure is working for him!CF
