Default Hows the fishing on KY lake!!!

with the weekend coming up and nice temps and light to moderate winds its got the itch started to get out on the water. Are the fish holding tight to brush, relating to ledges, or suspended and scattered. I havnt spent any time on Ky. lake this winter due to the feather disease ( duck hunting) and have never fished this early. any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Mainly going to run the boat and get all the cobwebs knocked loose for the pre spawn fishing, but who wouldn't want to catch a couple while out on the water. thanks

I haven't been out but we were talking about this very thing over breakfast. I don't know if the ramps are clear of ice. If they are , there will still be sheets of ice floating so running much over plane speed might be an adventure. I hit a sheet of ice several years ago on the main lake that was covered by water but was at least 100yards long and several yards wide and an inch thick. Hitting it with my Skeeter bass boat at 50 mph was not my idea of fun.

As of right now, they are predicting 3 day daily average outflow to be over 100K. Heavy current and cold water are not what I look for this time of year. I personally save up my brownie points this time of year for later, toward spring.

I went to sledd yesterday and got skunked. The ice was bad but it was breaking up. There were limited areas to fish, due to the ice. I spoke to two others who came up empty yesterday.

I just cooked a big breakfast with some fresh deer tenderloin from a doe I shot yesterday, then me and my son are fixing to head to Barkley. I'm gonna try a few points in the mouth of some bays. The last time I fished there we caught a few keepers but that was the day after Christmas.
