Default Re-dye of Veniards Fl. Red

I had posted the results of the Veniards fly dye and the fl. red didn't come out the way I wanted, the stem was red but the rest of the feather had an orange tint -

The re-dye, a stronger dye/vinegar mix ended up giving them more of a tangerine look

I'm thinking that unlike the Kool-Aid and RIT dye's which a re-dye will help firm up the color, the Veniards doesn't darken it up and you'll have to start with fresh un-dyed feathers. But the color is still good.

Well at least it did darken some, but your probably right, need fresh feathers and stronger mix. Still do they have some Florescent to it under a black light?

Would love to know. I keep a black light and a UV light in my tying area. The black light I actualy bought to use on the boat at night, but too many bugs so I use it to look at the materials I am using and if new stuff I want to see if FL and not just say FL. Send me one or two feathers and I will tell you and take a photo!

oh and you know FL Red usually looks really bright pink, but the black light changes the color on it to more red.
