Happy Go Lucky
So back in my home town there was a little boy
who liked to fish down at the creek. Good little kid
liked by everyone his first name was Happy his second Go
Lucky.
So one day little Happy Go Lucky heads down to the creek for
some fishing all by himself, just the way he liked it.
Little Happy did not have a real fishing pole just a old
willow stick with some line tied to it, but it was a good
fishing stick and little Happy liked it just as much had it
been store bought. Now the fish in the stream never ran big
but never the less one of Happy's biggest fears was he would
someday catch a big one and his line would break.
So rather then the four lb. test line he should have been
using our little buddy used some 80 lb. test salt water
line. Now this particular day we are speaking of Happy
caught a couple of bullheads before he started to get dozy,
poor kid just could not keep his eyes open. The warm sand
and gravel felt so good he figured he would just take a nice
little nap.
Now Happy's second biggest fear was while he was sleeping
some big fish would pull his pole into the water. So just to
be safe he tied the 80 lb. test line around his big toe,
good and tight. Problem resolved and with his mind at ease
he settled back to doze. Now he no more then got to sleep
when his line starts to go in and then back out real slow
like, never tightened up enough to pull his toe mind you
just something down there playing with it, back and fourth,
in and out.
Then BANG! Whatever it was jerked hard dragging Happy right
down the beach and into the water till with a splash and a
yell he flat out disappeared, nothing left but a swirl and
some bubbles.
Under the water though Happy was desperately fighting for
his life. He was head to head with the biggest baddest
snapping turtle in the creek an honest to go 40 pounder.
Course the first thing the turtle did was start snapping off
his fingers and when they were all chopped off he started on
Happy's toes.
Sadly it was not until the snapper got to the last toe, the
one the string was tied around, that Happy could free
himself popping to the surface just in time to not drown.
Course with all his toes cut off his balance was bad so he
kept falling down leaving him to eventually give up and
simply crawl back home leaving a big trail of blood behind.
His folks found him just before he died so they rushed him
to the hospital where, surprisingly, he didn't die at all.
Course the Doctors would have sewn his fingers and toes back
on but the snapper had ate them so they just sewed all the
ends shut and changed his name to Stubby.
Now old Stubby is 80 years old and still goes fishing every
day it's fit, hobbling his way to that same spot, determined
to catch that old Snapper ate all his toes. But don't you
worry, he's safe now, cause Stubby doesn't have any toes
left to tie the line to.
Best I got today. (-
