Default First Visit to AL where to stay and crappie fish?

    Hi all,

I'm wanting to plan a crappie fishing vacation where my brother and his wife (from northeast Arkansas) meet up with us (from Virginia) somewhere around Huntsville area. Maybe around middle April to end of April? or would early April be better?

Any suggestions on parks that also have cabins to rent and good crappie fishing??

We don't want to steal your fish, just
would like to have a nice vacation and eat a few good crappie dinners. None of us are at all familiar with AL and only chose that area because it's about 1/2 way more or less for both of us. We could meet up anywhere even north of Huntsville. Just trying to keep both of our travels down to about 6 to 7 hours. Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Sheila

On lake Guntersville they have lodging and water access at Goose Pond and at Guntersville State park. These are about 30 minutes south east of Huntsville. I mention these because these are the areas I know and fish. There are lakes in the Huntsville area also. I am sure someone will chime in on those soon.

Lake Guntersville State Park - Guntersville - Alabama.travel
This is about 40 minutes east of Huntsville. There are numerous good fishing spots around the state park.

Thanks for your help, both of you! That place looks and sounds fantastic! Found some vacation rentals in various areas around that lake too...it's big. Any particular areas/arms better than others? Wouldn't want to put in somewhere and then have to go miles and miles to a decent area. Coordinates would be nice (just kidding!!)

I'm really liking the sound of this one better than a couple I've checked in TN so far.

Lots of great fishing in the Goose Pond area within sight of the launch. Someone is always giving reports. If you would like you can pm me when it gets closer and share what I know.

If you decide to travel farther south. Check out lake Martin. I guide there and have a cabin I can rent rooms out in a bed and breakfast atmosphere . We are in central Alabama. Good luck with your decision.
