    Default Attaching lures to board

Over the last year we have had my parents house remodeled. Will be moving into it this weekend. I have several old lures that belonged to my dad. Was wanting to put them on a board and put them on display in a cabinet. What is a good way of attaching the to a board or something. Nothing that will destroy lures. Was thinking about laying them on dowels that had been put into a board. Also have a few old rods and reels. One rod is an old Wright &McGill. One reel is an old red Abu Garcia that is probably one of the first out. Also have a case it came in. Gonna put them on one of those round rod holders to set in corner.

Although custom made or homemade, many flea markets have a lot of woodwookers that will treat you right. Shadow Boxes are great for displaying old lures. Compartments need to be sized accordingly and display stands for the lures are easily incorporated.

If it were me, I'd use some I/8 inch lauan or some paneling. Lay out the lure's like I wanted and mark top and bottom center and drill holes and attach with clear zip ties. If you use lauan , you can stain or paint the way you want. This could be put in shadow box frame under glass. Good Luck!
I just KNOW it was a big one!!!

I would run fine wire through the lure's hook holder look and either drill two holes through the back board and twist in back or only one hole and wrap the wire around an anchor/button in the back of the board. You want the holding device to be as invisible as possible.

Depends on the look you are going after........ I think I would super glue or clear epoxy the hooks straight down ( like legs ) then super glue or clear epoxy the hooks to a piece of drift wood............

The couple of times that I have displayed some lures that I have found in rivers and lakes I use this method! I use E6000 as it drys clear and is thick. Last ones I did I put them on the drift wood I had some Crappies and one huge jumbo perch mounted on. Of course you wont be using the hooks again but if they are that old are you really looking to ever use them or just have a way to show them off?! I would Shadow box the reels, that would look awesome!

Good luck with whatever you do though and like they said post some pics!

A real nice Gun cabinet makes a real good lure display cabinet!! My father has one will and makes a good display case!! the standing ones or wall mounted!! And you can lock them!!and keep unwanted hands(kid's) out (hooks in fingers ouch)!!
