Monday was tough on Jordan
It was tough fishing yesterday. Not because of the weather, but the fish were hard to find or they had lockjaw. Didn't see another boat on the water all day, so we had the lake to ourselves. For most of the past couple of months, the lake level has been between 214'-215'. The level right now is 218.22'. I have one spot on the lake that has been good to me lately and last Friday we got around 50 in this area. Yesterday, only one. As you guys know, fishing is a lot like life--just when you think you have things figured out, a curve ball is thrown. A 3' rise in the lake level has caused the fish to either shut down the bite or they have moved. Looks like I will need to spend some more time on the water trying to figure out what went wrong. BTW, we did not fish the 64 bridge area, so not sure what impact it will have up there.

I had two of my friends with me Sunday. The water was rising and had lots of trash in it and was dingy. Where I had been catching really nice fish I could still see them in the bait but they would not bite. We caught 7 keepers. I even wondered if the oxygen was low with the run off. I saw lots of fish breaking on top. I was marking fish from 11 to 22 ft in 35fow. ????? I will try again.

Interesting because we saw the same thing yesterday. I marked lots of fish at 15' in 30' water. Even at the Ebenezer ramp I saw that same line of fish at 15'. I tried going after some of them, but with no success. I don't know what kind of fish it is, but they were breaking the surface out over the channel. And yes, lots of trash in the water. Several logs out there that could do some serious damage to a boat.

Sea Dancer--just noticed something. Take a look at my third screenshot--there are the fish topping out at around 15', but could not catch anything.

Noticed the same thing on Sunday. Water level up, lots of debris on the water, fish up high even breaking the water surface and not biting. Two weeks ago the bigger fish were really chomping when the water temp was around 46 or 47 then this weekend I noticed several spots I fished earlier the water was 52 with way less luck. I probably just didn't present the right bait in the right technique but I sure they can be convinced.
I marked a lot of fish near the Ebenezer ramp just in front of the beach area. Tried fishing it for a little while but no takers. Hopefully now that the rain is done we'll get some cleaner clearer water.

Looks like the water warmed up a degree or so since I fished last week. I wonder if the fish moved a little shallower? Corps is turning up releases so the lake should start dropping.

Dissolved oxygen is rarely an issue when the water is cold as cold water holds a lot more oxygen than warm water - kind of like how your minnows will stay alive forever in the winter but not long during the summer with out aeration. I wonder if fish were suspended like that due to differences in water temps.
