Im from Hill City, just 15 miles south of Grand Rapids and my parents live on Hill Lake... The Crappies came from there. I was up on Red during the monster crappies in one of the very first wheel crank down Ice Castles. My dad knows one of the people who helped invent them. I was only about 11-12 years old when they were biting like that and we always went out of Rodgers resort on the SE Side of Upper Red. Now we make a trip to Red 5-10 times a winter depending on the bite and still go out of Rogers!

I tried ice fishing while I lived up there, just couldn't get used to sitting in my Champion in a snowmobile suit on the frozen lake.

It was a balmy 75 in the Ice Castle! just had to reach out the door to grab a nice ice cold beer off the lake!

Looks like Christmas was really good. Nice fish!!!!!
