They (yellow jackets) are attracted to the protein in the meat. They use the protein to make the sticky paste that holds the nest together. That's why you see them and wasp's and hornets feeding on dead carcasses. You can research it cause I don't really have a clue. it just sounds good.

Food: Yellow jacket adults feed on foods rich in sugars and carbohydrates such as plant nectar and fruit. They also search for foods high in protein such as insects and fish. These are chewed and conditioned in preparation for larval consumption

Do what I do JR. Catch less fish, clean less fish. Might as well laugh at myself. Used to catch a lot more than I do now.
