    I also believe the black crappie will spawn quicker once its spawning time than do the whites.....As another already said the eggs are for the spring, and they will hold them throughout the winter but spring spawn will still come very early for large black crappie. Just my 2 cents.

    The Crappies I caught up here in NC (Falls Lake) this past Sunday had about the same egg development. Those are for this spring. Take another pic of the Females you catch in March/April and they'll be MUCH bigger. Also, Take some of those egg sacks, bread'em and fry them up! Excellent appetizer :D
