Default Rookie in Bama (Lake Jordan)

Hey all! Love the site and all of the info. I am new to crappie fishing and man is there a lot of info out there on how, when, and where. The problem that I am finding is that there is too much info. I live a few minutes from Lake Jordan which I know is an outstanding bass lake and I understand it is a pretty good crappie lake as well. The problem I have while trying to teach myself to crappie fish is that there is almost too much info. I see one thread where guys are catching them on the docks this time of year and another that says you need to be over structure in 30 ft of water. It is so confusing. I have a boat with an entry level DSI FF and plan to hit the lake and just go by trail and error. Obviously this method could take quite some time to find any success but if that is what it takes. Does anyone have any basic tips for this time of year on a Lake Like Jordan? Not looking for any honey holes just something to get me started. Should I be focusing on the docks, trolling points with deep dropoffs, fishing at night, mid day, etc???

    Thanks!!!

Was able to go out today and put a couple in the boat this afternoon. This was the catch of the day at 1 lb 11 oz and her very first crappie.
