    Default Jordan--caught over 100, kept 60 12/13

We had a great day on Jordan today. On the water before sun-up and fish on within 5 minutes of dropping our first hook in the water. Had one slow spell when I didn't have the guys on fish, but went across the channel and game back on. Except for that one stretch, we had consistent fish from a little after 7:00 to 3:00. All minnows today and depth was 28-30. Two weeks ago the magic depth was 18-20 and now they have moved deep. Looks like they are in their "wintering holes" till next Spring. For the first time in two months, no 14" fish. Couple of nice 13", but no 14. Not sure where the big-uns have gone.

Special thanks to Charles for letting me bring a couple of teenage guys from my church with me today. They have never crappie fished before, but do bass fish in a local pond in the Wake Forest area. It was Kyle's birthday and he whipped us with two nice 13" crappie. Chris, the older brother did well, but the fish cooperated in making it a special day for Kyle. They helped me fillet all the fish and tomorrow after church, we are going to have a fish fry in the fellowship hall. I was able to text our Pastor during the day and ask him if his family could join our families for a special lunch provided by Chris and Kyle. He said his family would love to join us.

Below is some pictures from the day and some very interesting screen shots. I'm going to post some more tomorrow, but too tired tonight after fishing a good part of the day and then filleting 60 fish.

Birthday Kyle--best fish of the day. It took a little while this morning to get the "bass" out of him, but he turned out to be an excellent crappie fisherman.

Charles, Kyle and Chris all had fish hit when we went over this spot. Looks like our minnows had a little competition with a baitball right on the bottom.

The fruit of our labor--crappie right out of the fryer!! This is the first half of two cookings.

This big turkey fryer made it possible to cook 60 fillets in just a few minutes.

Thank you Jordan Lake. I'm so glad the crappie population has rebounded.

Great job putting them young men on some fish. No doubt they'll remember that great day of catching. I still remember the first few times my uncle put me on crappie like that. Those memories are why I started crappie fishing as an adult.

Good job JL. I know you made 2 lifetime CDC members. Now you can teach them how to do those screenshots and you can go back to fishing.
