Had a short day yesterday so I headed over to Priest to put some crappie in the freezer. Put in at Fate Sanders about 1:30, water temp was 48 to 50 degrees and stained. I headed up to the Spring creek area and started drifting the spider rig in 18 to 20 FOW along main creek channel. HB showed lots of bait with fish scattered throughout. The first pass yielded nothing. I went back and drifted this time I was in the 14 to 16 foot range, on the second pass I had a couple bites and put the first crappie in the boat, I did notice all bites came on the shallow side rods. I motored back this time drifting in 10 to 12 FOW, I had to set the jigs at 8 feet because there was more structure on the bottom, I was able to make two passes before the sun set made me head back. Caught 18 crappie with a couple yellow bass mixed in here and there. Highlight was having two laying on the deck while hoisting a third out, had 11 keepers total with 6 over 13". The best setups were white 1/16 oz double cross jigs with orange/chart, red/chart and blue/white crappie mags all tipped with minnows.
This is my first contribution to the forum, hope to have many more and will try to remember to bring the camera next time. Will be going to KY lake next weekend so I hope to have a good report then.
Merry Christmas to all,
Ray
