Default Kentucky Outdoors and crappie world

Went looking for Kentucky Outdoors magazine today had not seen one for awhile. I could not find one. Are they still publishing it? But I did find a crappie world. This was the first I seen in awhile. And the last I will buy. It contained a nice article from shipahoy41 about why he crappie fishes, and 1 other article that can only be considered a add as it was mostly websites for guides and things. 2 total articles and no information on crappie fishing. Why pay $4 for this I can google this stuff free. This may be considered negative and removed, But I feel the people of crappie.com need to be aware of this so they don't waste their hard earned money. There is much more information on this site free than you will ever find in the magazine.
The only thing better than a day of fishing. Is a week of fishing.

I bought the same one at a local store yesterday. First time I've seen it around. I got home all excited to read it, and after Shipahoy41's artical I quit. There wasn't anything in it pertaining to crappie. Even the adds we're Bass based.
i gave it to my old man when he stopped by today. He flipped a couple pages, the started counting bass pics and the word bass. He threw it down and said no thanks.
    I was bummed.

Never heard of KY Outdoors magazine, but when I went to their Facebook page ... I had to scroll back to a April post to even see a post on Crappie fishing. Magazine covers that were pictured looked to be similar to KY Game & Fish magazine ... most articles center around whatever game is most popular for the season it's printed.

Crappie World magazine ... pretty much a losing venture. From what I've gathered from discussions on the Main Forum, it ran for awhile & then failed. Some guy that worked for the magazine (I think) picked it up and tried to make a go of it. Supposedly a fire occurred & wiped out the business & records (or something like that) and the guy is still supposedly trying to revive the magazine. But, every time it's even mentioned on the Main Forum, it receives only negative reviews/comments ... like too many ads, rehashed articles, few articles/pages, magazines never received, etc. Even Shipahoy has about given up on supporting it.

Crappienow.com is a free online monthly magazine. Nothing most seasoned Crappie anglers don't already know, but not a bad read, overall.

There's also Crappie Angler magazine, sold off the Grizzly Jig website. I've never seen one, but it has received some positive comments when mentioned in the past.

But, yeah .... you're right ... not many magazines can compete with this site for information !!

Kentucky Outdoors & Ky. Game & Fish are really close in content according to what season is currently in. Both are good reads & I've had subscriptions to both off/on over the years. And both center on our great state. But you are right nothing beats the amount of info that can be had for free on this site & the web in general. Crappie Angler is a good read but again this website smokes them all in comparison.
Crappie World was a rip off. IMHO

Ky Outdoors is alive and well! In fact, get you a copy from august and yours truly makes an appearance! Bass&Gas carries it. They also have a booth at most of the big fishing ad boating shows!

Also of note : Shipahoy sent in an article to Crappie World prior to this last article, featuring comments & pics from "G", myself, and Ship. I got to see the pre-publication write-up of the article ... and it was butchered beyond belief. I have to think that this magazine is a one man operation, albeit with good intentions, that is doomed to failure.
