Default Big crappie eats little crappie.

    I headed out to Suffolk today and landed 27 crappie with four over a pound at 1lb 10z, 1lb 8oz, 1lb 4oz, and 1lb 3oz. Here's the two biggest.

This is what was in the biggest ones' stomach.

I find it fascinating to see what is in the crappie's stomach and this is the first time I have found another crappie. I have found large minnows, a white plastic worm, a jig I had just lost when my line broke, and now this.

It took me roughly 4.5 hours to catch the 27 but I am pretty happy getting four over a pound. They were all caught in deep water 14'-20' down casting jigs. Most were caught on a black/pink BGBS with one of the bigger ones on Blue Ice and the other on Key Lime Pie. Both of the big ones were over 14" with the biggest just shy of 15". I showed surface water temp at 50.

Nice fish George. Thanks for the pics. Had the "honey do" list so I am dry docked for a bit.

Good report George, I've seen it before.. Me and Russell were fishing one day and I heard a thump under the boat, I looked over the side and saw a stunned crappie struggling. Well I let this little guy swim off and ate the big one heeheehehe

Nice catch!! Which lake did you go to? My son and I just got back from BM and didn't catch anything. I did see a lot of schools of fish about 15-20' on the FF. We only had about an hour to fish, so by the time we got out there we had to turn back. My 13 year old has never caught a spek, so I would like to get him on some. We might go back out tomorrow. He is not sure since it is supposed to be cold. I told him at least he won't be sitting too still like in a tree stand. Hehehehehe
