    Being a biologist, I had to open her up and take a look. Look at at the mesentery fat in the pig (the white stuff). This indicates that there is plenty of food around and that she was very healthy. I also remove the otoliths. It is hard to tell how old she was without a microscope and other equipment. But an initial look, I estimate her to be 4.5 or 5.5 years old. My favorite part of catching crappie is bringing them home for my buddy to see. I think he is as proud of my catch as I am. I think I will bake this old girl for my wife.

    Nice fish Matt. You didn't leave them biting for me when you left. I only managed one keeper tonight and some babies.

    Guess that's the one you were telling me about. I left with 5 but not one would measure up to that slab. Great Job. I left once the wind picked up. Just didn't have the fight in me. It was beautiful cool morning though. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I would agree with D10.....some great folks fishing down there!
