High Pressure and lake turn over drives them deep just off the bottom in the winter...where it has very little effect on their feeding habits. Most important thing to remember in the winter is find the bait fish in deep water and you will find the crappie just off the bottom below them feeding 1-5 feet from the bottom. One thing you can count on in the winter. mass amount of shad in deep water means mass amount of crappie below them off the bottom. This has held true in many lake I have fished.
Fish will have a tendency to move shallower in the winter with a low pressure front and warming temps, but at best the deep verses shallow bite will be 50/50 during these times as many fish will still be deep. The deep holes, main creek channels, and dams are the best places to go with your electronics. The deep spots in your lake is the name of the game in the winter time. Good Luck and go deep Brother.

Fish eat everyday somewhere, just got to find them. Some days are harder to find the exact place or the better time but they will eat everyday!
