Well, Kosmo ... I look at these beautiful representations of the images of some really good looking cover, that fish are very likely to be using at some point in time (or are already there), and I can't help but wonder :
WHY IN THE WORLD would someone waste screen space, or pay for a unit whose resources are diminished by the "old school" 2d rendering, when it takes a comparison to the DI image to properly identify what that 2d image ACTUALLY is![]()

I mean, even with all the pretty colors, and the color differences supposedly showing different degrees of gradient solidity ... most of the time, all those 2d images look like is a "bush"even when the DI image clearly shows that they are, in fact, something completely different.

Neat pictures, Kosmo...... did you rotate transducer 90 degrees or more or less. What transducer were you using?

I agree, there's not as much difference as I expected.the 998 is a little more fuzzy than the onix, but I also had the scroll speed turned up on the 998 shots, which probably contributed to some of the fuzz.the 998 software verso is the most recent release.
These are not same day, side by side pictures.i took the 998 pictures while experimenting with the rotated transducer.later I removed the 998 and replaced it with the onix.
After looking over some of my old pictures, using the 998, I compared them with the onix pictures.
I think later on, I will increase the scroll speed on the onix to see what difference it makes.
