ghmallard, I grew up on Dugdemona in Winn Parish and am in 2 leases there. Where is your lease located?

The "creek," as all the locals call it, can be divided into big water and little water. The big water is navigable by boat and has holes up to 10 feet deep. The little water runs from inches to a couple of feet deep. Yo-yoing is good in the big water using shiners and red worms, and set hooks and trotlines baited with bream can catch some nice ops. The biggest I've seen come out of the creek was 33 lbs. There's also a good population of white perch that can be caught on shiners but they don't run real big.

The little water is full of bream and bass, both large mouth and kentucky. When the water is low in the late summer (like it is now), you can wade around with an ultra light and beetle spin (chartreuse and green tube jigs is all you need) and catch dozens. They're not very big but a lot of action. Here's 2 articles I wrote about fishing on Dugdemona:

I meant chartreuse and black, not green.

Nice articles Terry. You make me wish I lived closer as I could really enjoy that type of fishing.

Gene, Dugdemona was a great place for a boy to grow up and for an old man to spend his golden years.

My dad and brother were members of a hunting lease in Jordan hill on the dugdemona when I was in high school. We used to go once a year and tent camp next to the river and bass fish out of canoes, we would catch a bunch of spotted bass and some large mouths too. Boy was it fun! Some of the best fishing I can remember...
