    Default Henderson 11/11 Basin Landing.....

Got there real early and saw 2 bass fishermen fishing near the landing......so I went aways down and pulled out my white spinnerbait....first cast, about a 2# bass.....that was it for the bass.....tried several spots and wound up with 4 keepers.....3 sacs (shiners-12 ft deep) and the bass.....definitely was an early morning bite only.....ran across SWAMPPERS on the water (picture)......saw him again at the landing coming home.... he was nice enough to give me his 9 keepers......WOW....what a super guy....had a very good chat with him.....also got a Goo as usual and a spoonbill (?).....my first ever spoonbill.....

The limit on that paddler is 2 Paddlefish | Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries It's rare to catch one on a hook and a fluke in my opinion since they are filter feeders. I remember the first one I caught on a trotline in the Tennessee river. I didn't know at the time that such a critter existed. It was about 30 lbs and what a shock to see that paddle come up.

All in all it sounds like it was a good day, only wish I could have gotten away from work to do some pre-front fishing also! I did a little reading this morning out of curiosity on the paddlefish and it appears that they are not common at all and don't begin spawning until the age of 7-10 years, interesting!

As for that guy in the first picture, what you say we begin a collection to help that generous young man get a pair of shoes? I kinda feel bad for him having to fish with no shoes!

True but remember that there once was time that I couldn't make a duck call either, but once I set my mind to it, voila!
