Thread: Spike It Plastic

I use spike it it is good stuff but it is not bad for settling is much but you still have to shake a bottle or container the good thing about spike IT is that you can reheat it several times before it starts to yellow also it will clear the bubbles out faster by letting it sat for a minute or two before shooting but I think all the plastic out there you need to stir them I believe they all settle I have used 4 different plastics in spike it was the best.

I use it. Like snake says it definitely takes the heat very well. You do have to be a little more patient with it though. It does tend to bubble on initial cooking. The harder the compound the more bubbles. Just let the plastic sit a couple minutes after cooking and scoop off the top layer. ANother thing to consider is there plastic seems softer than whats advertised. Meaning there medium is softer than other brands medium.

Now if you degas the spike it plastic the bubbles aren't a problem!

snake are you using the pourasol or the injectasol? one is de-gassed?

Do-It will be announcing a new line of plastic that will fit in with the "Essential" line of molds and colorants. This plastic is very heat tolerant and cooks very clear without many bubble issues, but what I love about it is the amount of elasticity it has. The stuff stretches forever before it breaks. Welds between colors are rock solid too.

How do we go about getting samples of this new plastic I sure would like to try.

I bit the bullet and ordered the pourasol, paid a few more dollars for the de- gassed version, soft!! Hey I had a neat discussion with a guy, about his opinion that certain soft plastisol are less likely to tear, like I thought? He says that a spongy soft plastic will give and have less tendency to tear? Your thoughts?

Ctom, went to do-it site read the plastic page and it sais this was a new plastic formulated for them. is this the new one or do I need to wait before I order the 2oo.oo kit to get started. Any help would be appreciated. Dave
