I seldom post on this site anymore for the following reason. For every hardworking crappie fisherman, who will get out on the lakes and find fish for themselves,(take time to put structure in, survey the lakes during the of season, try and develop a pattern of there own, etc.), there are 10 to 20 times as many lookers who just look at this and other sites and go where someone else has found the fish. So to the ones who want to give the exact location, water depth, depth that they are fishing, type of bait, etc. I say that is your right, but as for me, I prefer to give that kind of info to the true crappie fisherman, in a private post or other means. Not the Johnny come lately bunch.

I know this will make some of you happy, and it will not set well with some of you. But that is my filling on this matter. This may seam selfish to some of you, but I prefer to see a man rewarded for his hard work, and for those who are unwilling to work, tough luck. That is the way I look at life in general.

Ability to stock threadfin may also have to do with hatchery capacity - is there capacity in the hatchery to produce or are they full from growing other fish for stocking.

Why get worked up if someone catches a limit 2 or 3 times a week. They might just be helping a family out or the old man or woman down the street. Unless you confront them and make it your business to find out why don't try to work up the natives and riot. We all catch fish and give them away. We all catch fish and turn them back to the lake. If you are there every time a certain person or group is there ask them politely they may surprise you. I know three men who fish everyday and they catch a lot of fish here on Wylie but they keep a few and give the rest to neighbors and to a almost blind guy with kids. I know personally because I have fished with them. They have even given me the fish on occasions when I need a few. Not everyone is a bad person for keeping fish. I don't see it hogging them.

Larry--you make a good point and most people do not give away locations anymore. There are some community holes known by just everyone, but not specifics. I posted some pictures last week and Newly was kind enough to remove one of them because someone may recognize the background. I've given some guys spots to fish, but like you, it is either through PM, phone or in person. Way too many lurkers on here that want to just steal someone else's good fishing spot.

Well said Larry. I love fried crappie as much as anyone else. But with health care cost rising I try not to eat so much anymore. I know theres other ways to cook it but there is only one way it taste good to me. DEEP FRIED. And i know the state wildlife does what it can in surveying fish population and managing it but Im sure there on tight budget restrictions like any other state department. I wonder how much that handcuffs them in there assessment of the crappie? Where all glad Jordan is coming back around and its great reading the different opinions on how to keep it a great fishery. Tight lines to all.

ALL lakes have good and bad years, when it's good get all you want legally, when its bad remember the good times.

Do not believe the hatchery is full from growing other fish. What else are they stocking? Trout? Ask the Trout fishermen. Strippers? Ask the Stripper fihermen. Hybrids?

The problem with growing Threadfin Shad in a hatchery is birds! They flock in and eat them in shallow ponds.

Jordan Lake is "fertile" and will produce an abundance of Shad if left alone. I am not sure if the Solar Bee program is good for the Shad.
