For those that have been thinking about going to Longmire I would suggest taking a two man, kayak, tube or canoe instead of your big boat.Went there today and was barely able to get mine launched. You are kicking up mud all the way out for 50 yds.with motor barely in water!Want be doing that again!Only reason I went ahead and put in was another boat went ahead of me and told me I wouldnt have trouble,so I did and thought I was going to have to go wading.I had my grandson and he wanted to catfish so we did and they were biting and he caught about 10 with 6 big enough to eat.He is 7 yrs old and that was fun for him.He told me he was playing hookie from school to go fishing wthh PaPa,something I taught him before he started real school when he was going to pre k.MAIN REASON for this post was to WARN YOU OF THE VERY LOW WATER AT RAMP!Didnt want anyone wasting a trip down and not being able to put your boat in !!!

I've given up on Longmire. It's been bad for the last 2-3 years. The city fluctuates it from normal to very low for water supply. They have done this for some time. I spoke with the Chief of Police (they manage the lake) in January and he said the city realized what they were doing and were not going to continue letting it get so low. I fished it a couple of times early in the year but did poorly. Went down a couple of months later and could barely get my boat in the water then, Haven't been back and probably never will. IMO the extreme fluctuations over the last few years has ruined the Crappie spawn. It's a shame because it used to be a terrific crappie lake.

That blows what the city did to the lake.
What does the grass look like around the lake? ?
