If it's like Toledo Bend, you have to consider the wind because the markers will move and will be off somewhat due to the way they are anchored. You want to ride leeward (downwind) instead of windward (upwind). Consider that as well when there are single buoyed lanes running to the bank/launch areas off the main channel lane. Also consider the lake level - safe at normal pool level or slightly below. I have seen cut stumps in the boat lanes slightly above the water when it has been dead calm at low pool levels. This has been my observations at Toledo Bend, might be different there. Just thought I'd mention it.

Randy, all the channel markers on Darbonne are on posts or trees. No floaters.

hey hoss--there are two places that you can easily access from a pirogue. first is the state park launch. we fished last year for two days in sight of the ramp. just go out to the channel and go upstream. second is jakes. hwy 33 launch. just look for the boats out in the channel just up from the ramp or on the other side of the bridge. neither of those will involve more than a hundred yard or so paddle. call me dude----318.272.8069

    Unhappy

I was on the lake yesterday and would advise caution when leaving the state park and heading toward Jake's. The colored markers are completely missing from several poles and many of the metal signs with color coding are completely gone along with the trees to which they were attached. I have fished the lake for over 40 years and found myself having to shut down from on plane & idle. If you "ZIG" where you are supposed to " ZAG", you can easily leave your lower unit on a big stump.....permanently....😥

B&M BOBM, thanks for the heads-up. You may have just saved a lower unit or even a life.
