Not forgetting to try that spot that is so obvious that allot of people drive right past it to go on the hunt for fish.

    Default Old news?

This tip is for beginners. As you read articles of how to fish for crappies, you will find there are MANY ways. Now do you try them all?? Yes and NO!!
Get good at one of them BEFORE you try others. Like, 'Do I spider-rig'? 'Do I pull cranks'?, 'Do I verticle jig brush/trees'? 'Do I use minners'? All these tactics at one time or the other will work the best. But if you don't master one of them, you won't know when to change.
We are blessed to have many lakes that all fish different. Perry has very few trees and thousands of brush-piles. Clinton has more trees as does Hillsdale and so on. Start on your local lake and learn it. If it is a brush-pile lake, like Perry, spend a day just looking for them.
A GPS can be very helpfull marking them. Look in several depths along chanels and breaks. Don't forget to look on the flats too!! Mark them for the wind too. It is much easier to fish outa the wind than to fight it. I know if you do your 'homework' BEFORE you hit the lake, your success will improve. Hope this helps the beginners as well as some of the 'homeboys' when they fish new waters. ALWAYS keep a few and return the rest!! <*)}}}><

Agree sort of but there really is, at least in mu opinion one single important part of crappie fishing that keeps us coming back for more

You can go to the interior of Alaska and take your single most important component with you, if you catch a crappie in there I will buy in on "the single most important component in your opinion" other wise I have to stand by the "they all have to be in place theory".
