Welcome FISH N FRY. I think the best hands on help you could get would be to join us at the state park on D'Arbonne on next weekend. We will be gathered there for our annual gathering and there will be a bunch of us. Some of us will be there on Thursday the 23rd and the rest of us on Friday the 24th and Satuday the 25th. Friday night we will have a pot luck supper and a fish fry on Saturday. All this will happen at cabin #9 in the park. Check out the info at the top main Louisiana page. There is a thread about the gathering, one about the food, and one about the prizes.

I totally second what paw paw gene said, come join us and you can get hands onhelp. it is the highlight of the fall for many of us.

I can't help with caney, never fished there. but as far as darbonne goes, the fish are all, and I mean all, in the process of moving to the channel. when they first start moving there, they hang oiut on the edges of the channel. but as the shad move so do they. as it gets colder, they move into the middle of the channel and get a tad deeper, bc that's where the shad go.

if I can help ya in any way about the gathering just holler.

welcome and what part of this great state you hail from?? hope to see ya at darbonne. I've got some extra room in my cabin if ya need a bunk for a few nights. just holler. 318.272.8069

Most of the Tackle shops have good Maps at a modest cost ---- Wildlife and Fisheries office in Monroe also have an extensive list of small maps of lakes in the area, some of them have Topo lines with the launch sites on the map
