Between J_ROW's posts and yours I can't wait to make a trip to Black Lake. But no matter where you are, a beautiful day like yesterday is truly a blessing to be enjoyed. Thanks for the post.

Sorry for the late post guys, but I had a ton of work to do when I got home after I took the day off to fish. I finally got to meet the famous J_ROW. He was such a nice fellow, just as most of if not all of the rest of the CDC members. He gave me some of the famous Gray Ghost jigs and some advice on where I could catch a few fish. Thanks, J_ROW, for your kindness to me today. I hope I can pay it forward someday.
This was the first time for me to fish Black Lake, but it will not be my last. It is a very beautiful lake. The water level looked to me to be down 4-5 feet and the lady I talked to at the landing told me to be very careful, even in the channel. Needless to say I never opened up the 90 HP today; just puttered around like an old man. LOL.![]()
It was such a beautiful day the Lord gave us to fish today. A little cool early, 45 degrees, the fog rolled in between 8:30 and 9:00, then it burned off about 10:00. A slight breeze started and then it warmed up to around 80 degrees before I left about 2:30. Absolutely perfect for a fall fishing day. Thank you Lord, Jesus.
Now to the fishing report. I kept 16 crappie and 10 good bream. I also caught a whole bunch of bar fish and a lot of crappie and bream that were just too small to keep; one of the crappie only about 3 inches long. That little fellow hit that jig like he weighed 2 lbs. I probably caught half of the crappie on the Gray Ghost that J_ROW gave me before he left and half of them on a Blue Thunder on a Chartreuse head. All but one of the bream came on the Gray Ghost. I did see one man catching crappie on shiners. Most of the fish I caught were caught about 1.5 feet off of bottom in 7-9 feet of water. Six of my fish were respectable fish, nothing spectacular; just good fish in the 11-13 inch range. The rest were scrappers, but I like scrappers and my wife likes the filets. So, once again, all is good. Thank you Lord for several messes of fish. I may go back Saturday and try them again.
