All of the fish in the bass pro did in fact come from NC. The large blue cat came from Badin. Cant remember which lake the crappie came from.

Might be a State record fish! For may years NC Wildlife did not know the difference in a White and Black Crappie. The current state record for Black Crappie is listed by NC Wildlife at 4lbs and 15 oz and was caught in 1980. Three or 4 years ago the two species were separated and the current state record for White Crappie now stands at 3lb and 15oz and was caught
    5/2/13.

If this fish is a White Crappie and was caught in NC, it may be a state record.

Yes. I too would love to see a picture of the fish. Is it a replica or a skin mount? I do fish taxidermy as a hobby and I don't think there are any crappie replicas available 20" or longer. I have a good friend in Indiana who is a full time fish-only taxidermist and I was at his shop when he had a 21" black crappie in the works. He didn't know it's weight. The longest one I have mounted is 19 1/2" long...weight unknown also.
Some of life's most precious memories take place in the presence of a fish.

OK I was at BPS today with my daughter and talked to the guys that feeds the fish and helps take care of them. I tried to get a pic but it stayed in the back of the tank. The guy said the records show that the fish was a little over 4 lbs when they received it. It was caught out of Tucker town. They are estimating the fish around 5.5 to 6 pounds now. It dwarfs the large mouth in the tank!!!!!! I will try to get pick the next time down maybe it will be out a little better!!! I would crap my pants if I had one on the end of my line like that.

    no way
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The sheep live in fear of the wolf but in the end it's the shepherd that eats them.

Well if that fish weighs 5.5 or 6 lbs. it would be a world record.
IFGA list White Crappie WR at 5lb 3oz. and Black Crappie at 5.0 Lbs.

Kind of interesting data though because the SC records are WC 5lb 1oz and BC at 5,0 which is what IFGA says world record is.

I know at one time SC held the World Record for one of the crappie species, but it was broken at some point.
