I took my neighbor jig fishing and looking for bigger Crappie. We culled out a real good mess . The exciting part was the huge Bass that jumped after taking my jig! Then hung several Gar and landed one that was about 18lbs on a jig pole. It jumped like a Tarpon and finally wore it down . Used a set of needle nose pliers to grab the bill and help it in the boat . Should have seen my neighbor when it flopped up on the back deck!
I decided to clean it and looked up a recipie for Gar Balls on a Cajun website. Modified it to suit me. Boiled the Gar Meat and crumbled it up removing the tendons or connective tissue. Boiled potatoes and mashed into the fish along with raw eggs , oinons , peppers , and seasonings. It said make golf ball sized but mine were bigger. Roll in Corn Flour and I just blended up Corn Meal. Fried them in Canola Oil. They ain't bad cooked Coon Arse Style!

I'da like to got in on some of all of that. When a person goes to eating gar either he can't catch a crappie at all, or has caught way too many crappie. I've ate grinnel, eel, and polly catfish, but never had any gar and it wasn't cause I had too many crappie. Looks good.
