Which ever one I'm fishing on. The best can change and does. Looks like you catch plenty in the canals down south. Anytime you can stand there and catch specks like you do is very hard to beat.
Wear your PFD!!!!!
This is the day the Lord hath made, rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
I know it has been up and down but if you go off the last 25+ years I don't think there is a better place than Okeechobee
The big O was once the place to go!

I cant lie down here at Slims Fish Camp last year it was just tooooo many ppl out on the boat. Till the point the that the fish came in for like 2months during spring to spawn and it was like folks caught every crappie that came in to reproduce. One of my Crappie holes sits right across from the famous "Tree Island". and i was digusted seein so many people fishin right in front of me while i was tryin to catch a few slabs. 10yrs back me and my dad would be the only ones there in that same spot. SMH. i wont be surprised if next year, wont be no more speck to catch out of the lake
But see we may have a slight advantage down here on the south end of lake O if you ask me and this is my theory:
Floridas whole water system naturally flows south. All that water up there above the lake travels into the lake, lake gets full then they drain the lake down here so it wont flood neighboring counties. In the dry season they turn off all of the water down here. how i know? because i have the website for every Lock & damn south of the lake. Perks of making friends with folks that work for Water Management lol when its off, the fishing sucks. when its on you better get your fishin boots ready because a boat will do u no good. Prime example. Look up Canal Point, Fl. its like 6 ppl that live there, no lie, but its a canal that flows from the lake, south east and eventually out into the ocean. But before it gets to the ocean all that water travel through Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. An area that is literally untouched. When they start to pump all of that water during the rainy season millions of crappie start to travel against the current. traveling for days on end because they are stupid and they end up gettin stuck at a place like Canal point, FL, with no place to go because they all cant get back into lake O. So many crappie that you could fish all day with 50 other ppl and not see no other fish come out of the water except Specks. So many fish in this little canal that when you stand 1 foot in the water with your boots on you could feel fish bump into your boot lookin for eddys to chill out in because they be tired of swimmin day in and day out in the current. On the days that they dont bite do you know how frustrating that is for us? we can literally see the fins in the current and feel them bump into our fishin line while verticle jiggin 3-4ft deep with a 12ft jig pole from the bank. My buddys would be mad if they seen me on here tellin yal bout this spot but you know what. i dont care. Half of them are old and dont know how to use the internet anyways lol im puttin this spot on the map and yal should check it out because its crazy and you wont believe it until you see it and one day ima get some epic footage of this stuff. I have a few vids on Youtube tryin to capture a few moments at Port Mayaca,FL. This spot is worth every penny to travel to. Right now the water is off. But about a month ago it was on and the fish where there in BIG numbers. You could hit the limit in 1:30mins. Next time the water starts pumpin i'll make a post in case any of you guys wanna try the spot.
Crescent is for me.
